AEM has recently added Accelerated Mobile Pages(AMP) extension for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) core components. The developers can write common code so as to be able to serve normal HTML and AMP pages(if needed). This extension uses amp sling selector to render a page.html and page.amp.html if needed.

The template editors can control if they want their pages to be AMP by going in the page template's Page Policy and select the AMP Mode. All the pages using this template will inherit the behavior. This can also be overwritten at the page level by going to the page properties, under the "Advanced" tab and changing the "AMP Mode" from "Inherit from Page template" to something else. This will allow the content authors to control if they want certain pages to have different behavior than the one specified by the template editors.

AMP Mode drop-down has the following options:

  1. No AMP: This is the default mode. Pages will render as usual without any AMP version for the page.
  2. Paired AMP: This mode will allow for the delivery of both usual HTML and AMP pages relying on the "amp" sling selector to render a "page.html" and "page.amp.html".
  3. AMP Only: This mode will allow for the delivery of only the AMP pages. Pages will try to render the AMP version regardless of the request containing the "amp" selector or not.
